The Cordes Family – Lake Love!
I don’t know about you, but I love a good love story. And this couple is the epitome of what this lake has brought together and created…another Lake! I grew up with both Luke and Felicia. We all met as kids while spending our Thursday nights doing dock starts in our pink shirts and raising our SKI BEES flags. These two have always felt like family to me.
I remember one summer while Felicia and I were waiting tables at Lake Breeze Ski Lodge, she confided in me that she and Luke had started dating. It was one of those OMG moments. We had all grown up together, and it was adorable to see them become a couple. I got to witness their relationship grow from friendship to love, and it all happened here on this amazing lake.
In November 2017, Luke and Felicia got married at the lodge next to the dock where we spent our summers skiing and danced in the autumn lake breeze. I was sad to miss it as I was delivering my second son, my very own Luke. We used to joke that I named my son after Luke, and while I can’t say it was “the reason,” I do remember thinking how the only other Luke I had ever known was always someone I had admired and thought of as the coolest kid on Lake McQueeney.
And speaking of namesakes, a few years later, Luke and Felicia welcomed their own son. He has their bright blue eyes, Luke’s bright blonde hair, and his mom’s sweet disposition. His name? Lake! Doesn’t that just melt your heart?
When I was trying to figure out whom I could use to model my newest collection of colors, I wanted it to be a family or couple that truly understood what this lake has brought together. Luke, Felicia, and little Lake immediately popped into my head.
As I’ve talked to others about my newest venture, explaining how I came up with McQueeney Collective is sometimes hard to put into words. So here it is in pictures. McQueeney Collective. What does it mean to you?
